U.S. Chess Championship after round 5



The 2022 U.S. Championship is a 14-player round-robin featuring the strongest players in the USA, who compete for $262,000 in prize money as well as the coveted title of U.S. Champion. 
If two or more players tie for first place a playoff will be held. Players receive 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move one. Draw offers are not allowed before move 30.

French Grandmaster (GM) Marc'Andria Maurizzi won the Djerba International Chess Festival 2025 (Masters). The winner scored 7.5 out of 9 points, a remarkable result. There was significant interest in the performance of 12-year-old Faustino Oro. The Argentine player lost his first five games and ultimately scored only 1.5 points (three draws), finishing in last place. This tournament was clearly too strong for Oro. Rk. Deep Sengupta ( source ) Grandmaster Deep Sengupta neither had the highest ranking (starting number 6) nor had much success recently, and yet he was the best in the Najdorf Memorial. This shows that every competitor from India has to be reckoned with. The Miguel Najdorf Memorial will take place from the 11th to the 19th of July in Warsaw, Poland as part of the Warsaw Chess Festival 2023. The format is a 9-round Swiss.
